Flavoured eh?

Being born in the 40s would've surely meant a more 'flavoured" life ! Kneeaches,
wrinkled skin, blurred vision, et al might have been unwanted companions but the
early part of my life would've perhaps had colours n flavours that are now a part
of life in the archives ! Our cubby hole- this little world that we live in suffers
from sameness- an ailment that is our very own 'creation'. And the naive me thought
only Gurgaon suffered from the concrete jungle syndrome ! How wrong am I. A half-day
trip to Bangalore yesterday made me want to strike a coup and slow everything down
and stop the decay. Why clone cities? A 'xerox' life is not what I
crave for. Flavours are what the palate yearns.. Don't need a Vanilla world ! Let's
arrest the sameness that our cities are bowing down to. Malls, Multiplexes, plush n
'authentic' multi-cuisine restaurants, twin-like airports, hukka bars, etc are ways
we give ourselves a certain LIFESTYLE with ! Wherever you are, you shall have these
companions to make you feel AT HOME ! Lets let our cities be what they have been...
Let's not rob our world off its inherent flavour..Let's not decay them with lifeless
toys that play with life itself. Lets arrest soullessness.. But how? Ideas, anyone?

Hi,

This is Ashutosh from IIM Shillong. Chanced by your blog. Interesting take on what u've written about.

A thought is that a cue can be taken from the North East of India. The pristine beauty and uniqueness of every city is still well maintained; unplundered by the concrete jungle. This could be one of the few positives of non industrialization in this part of the country.
